How long is the service life of a carbon fiber infrared heating lamp?
Normal service life range
The service life of a carbon fiber industrial infrared heat lamp is usually around 5000 – 10000 hours. However, this is only a rough range, and the actual service life will be affected by many factors.
Factors affecting service life
Use environment:
If the Halogen Heater Replacement Bulbs is used in a high temperature, high humidity or dusty environment, its service life may be shortened. For example, in a foundry workshop, the ambient temperature is high and the dust is large. The carbon fiber filament in the carbon fiber Quartz Infrared Quartz Heat Lamps may accumulate dust, affecting the heat dissipation performance, causing the local temperature to be too high, thereby accelerating the aging of the filament. In a high humidity environment, moisture may corrode the filament and other parts of the lamp body, causing short circuits or other damage.
Working voltage:
A stable voltage is essential for the service life of the Quartz IR Halogen Heating Bulb. When the operating voltage is higher than the rated voltage, the current through the filament will increase. According to Joule’s law (, where is heat, is current, is resistance, and is time), the heat generated by the filament will increase significantly, causing the filament temperature to be too high, and the structure of the carbon fiber material may be destroyed, thereby shortening the service life. On the contrary, if the voltage is too low, although the filament temperature is relatively low, the expected heating effect may not be achieved, and frequent switching between low-power and high-power states (such as when the grid voltage fluctuates greatly) will also have adverse effects on the filament.
Frequency and duration of use:
Continuous long-term use of the Quartz Infrared Halogen Heating Element will also affect its life. For example, if a carbon fiber halogen IR heating lamp is used 24 hours a day, its filament will age faster than a heating lamp that is only used for 4-6 hours a day. In addition, frequently turning the heating lamp on and off will also produce instantaneous current shocks, causing certain damage to the filament. Because each time it is turned on, the resistance of the filament is low and the instantaneous current is large, it is easy to cause local overheating of the filament, which will reduce the performance and life of the filament over time.
